Kindness:
Our school is where kindness matters. We take pride in teaching our students skills to make them successful students in and out of the classroom. Each month is designed to teach our students a new "KIND" trait and have them use it in their everyday routines.
The following traits will be introduced and implemented into our classrooms:
August: Respectful
September: Inclusive
October: Responsible
November: Thankful
December: Helpful
January: Honest
February: Be a Friend
March: Positive
April: Considerate
May: Supportive & Encouraging
Reflection and Apology:
A critical component of our kindness plan is helping students to accept responsibility for their choices. When a student has a behavioral infraction, they will be asked to complete a reflection in a buddy classroom. Through the reflection process, students identify what choice they made, what they were trying to accomplish, what would have been a better choice to make, and identify a related be kind trait. They learn to not only accept responsibility for their actions but to apologize to the people they hurt and commit to behavioral change. We believe this is the most effective way to help students make better, kinder choices.
