Helping your child have a successful start to every school day begins the night before. Students should have their homework checked, their agendas reviewed and signed each day. This is often the first form of communication so there may be notes from teachers or other important information. Make time every day to ask your child how their day was? What was exciting about their day? What are they looking forward to?
Students need a consistent bed-time routine. They need about 10-12 hours of sleep each night at this age. Plan to go to bed early enough to get a good nights’ rest. An adult should wake up with students every morning. Students should have a healthy breakfast every morning. If students are having a no-cost breakfast at school, they should be here by 7:20 a.m. to ensure enough time to eat before instruction begins at 7:40 a.m.
Attendance is extremely important and unless your child is truly ill, they should be at school on time every day.
